The Hall has been an integral part of the Newham community for over one hundred years. Rich in the history of our town, it has provided great service over the years as a location for meetings, polling booths, parties, weddings and more. It is run by a dedicated and hard-working committee of volunteers and has survived financially through fundraisers, revenue from bookings, and grants from the council.

The Hall re-opened in December 2009 after extensive renovations, including a new supper/meeting room, kitchen, storeroom and toilet block, as well as an upgraded parking area. The re-development was paid for by grants from the Regional Development Fund and MRSC, and over $30,000 raised by the local community.

With renovations to the building now complete, there are ongoing plans to develop the surrounds with landscape planting and a community orchard at the rear.

Many local community groups now use the hall as a base for meetings and events. There are a series of term-length classes in yoga (Wednesdays) & strength training (Thursdays) as well as the long-running walking group (Tuesdays) who use the hall facilities.

Booking the Newham Hall

It is with pleasure that we now offer the refurbished Newham Mechanics Institute hall for hire. The expanded facility has:

- room for up to 100 guests

- a fully-upgraded kitchen to suit all catering requirements

- car parking for 30 cars

- brand new toilet facilities

- solar panels providing sustainable power

- safe access to Wesley Park & the indigenous garden

- FREE barbecue facilities
